By promoting the growth of antibodies:. Antibodies ordinarily try to cause the antigens or invading objects to collect in clumps, and cause relatively soluble pathogens (such as tetanus virus) to become less soluble. The antibodies then mark the toxic parts of pathogens, and finally attack them directly, causing the pathogen cells to rupture and die. Consequently, as long as the human body is able to stimulate the production of antibodies, it can immediately destroy any invading pathogens and maintain a state of health.
By stimulating proliferation of lymphocytes:. B cells and T cells are the most essential parts of the immune system; as long as they can be kept in a state of growth and activation, the body's immunity will remain robust.
By regulating T cell function: There are three types of T cells, each of which has a different function:
a. Cytotoxic T cells: These cells are responsible for directly attacking foreign bodies and killing microbes, but may sometimes mistakenly kill the body's own
cells. They are also known as "natural killer cells."
b. Helper T cells: The most numerous type of T cell, these cells assist the functioning of the immune system in many ways. For instance, they stimulate
depleted cytotoxic T cells to continue the fight, provide energy to the other two types of T cells, and, most importantly, suppress pathogen cell activity and proliferation, giving cytotoxic T
cells a better chance to kill them.
c. Inhibitor T cells: While the function of inhibitor T cells is not completely understood, they are ordinarily believed to regulate the activity of other
types of lymphocytes, preventing an excessive immune response from damaging the body.
By promoting the activity of natural killer cells: As described above, natural killer cells are cytotoxic T cells that can destroy microbes or pathogens by combining the proteins on their surface receptors with these foreign bodies..
By promoting macrophage activity: Apart from the many types of immune cells, the immune system also consists of many monocytes. When mature, these monocytes become tissue macrophages, which are also known as reticulum cells. Reticulum cells form the sinuses of the lymph nodes, spleen, and other lymphatic tissue, where they engulf and destroy germs. Unique antibodies from the engulfed pathogens are passed on by the macrophages to lymphocytes, where they induce an "immune reaction." The next time the same kind of pathogen invades the body, the immune system will be ready to fight the invaders and ward off infection. This is how increasing macrophage activity can enhance immunity and sharply decrease the likelihood of disease.
Herbs for the Liver
Lingzhi has proved to be of assistance to the liver by protecting it from damage. Lingzhi's primary role is to hasten up the metabolism of the medicine and reduce toxic
substances in the liver. Lingzhi also has been used to treat certain complaints associated linked to chronic hepatitis.
Herbs for Cancer
Support
Together with traditional cancer treatment this herb can destroy cancer cells or tumor growth brought about by a weak immune system.. Do not reduce or discontinue
conventional treatment without prior opinion from a physician. In Traditional Chinese and Japanese Medicine theory, effectiveness in controlling cancer is around 40% to
50%.
The active anti-cancer constituents in Lingzhi are called Beta-D-glucan. Beta-D-glucan is a polysaccharide- basically a huge sugar molecule made up of many little sugar molecules chained together bound to amino acids. These intricate sugars stimulate or modulate the immune system by activating immune cells such as macrophage and helper T-cells. They also increase the immunoglobulin levels to produce a heightened response to foreign cells, whether bacteria, viruses, or tumor cells. The Morishige studies also mentioned that effectiveness of Lingzhi could be increased by combining it with high doses of Vitamin C to break down huge molecules of polysaccharides.
Studies demonstrate that this herb can increase body tolerance to radiation and chemo therapy, strengthens immunity and improves appetite.
Herbs for Beauty
The polysaccharides and polypeptides found in Lingzhi effectively help delay the appearance of aging by removing free- radicals that can stimulate skin cell injury. They
possess properties that can remove free radicals and prevent body damage by stopping lipid peroxidation. Such action protects the cells and delays aging of the cells. Lingzhi polysaccharides help
enhance DNA synthesis in the cell nucleus and increases the number of cell divisions, which results in delayed symptoms of aging and improves metabolism. This herb can also enhance and regulate
immunologic functions to ensure healthy growing skin cells.
Lingzhi preserves and standardizes water in the skin and helps uphold the skin's elasticity, keeping the skin hydrated and smooth. It also helps to hamper the configuration and deposit of melanin that can cause ugly skin pigmentations.
Herbs for Diabetes and Kidney
Lingzhi's B and C help reduce blood glucose levels. In China, research has shown that by enhancing utilization of blood glucose by body tissues, Lingzhi can serve as a
supplement to insulin to inhibit release of fatty acids. Chinese studies reflect that blood glucose can be reduced from 173 to 116, cholesterol from 233 to 179, and Beta-protein from 580 to
465.
They also noted effectivity against hypertrophy of the prostate, prostitis, chronic nephritis, cystitis, urine blockages, blood in the urine, kidney dysfunction, pyelitis, sexual dysfunction, etc.
Herbs for the Central Nervous System/Nerves
Research shows that this herb has a calming and soothing effect on the central and peripheral nervous system.
It is particularly efficient in the treatment of neuralgia and insomnia. In addition, this herb for nerves can also help you to improve sleep and appetite, improve memory, regain vitality, and
enhances vital energy.
History of Lingzhi or Reishi
The Shen Nong's Herbal Classic ( around first century BC ), a 2000-year old Chinese medicinal book considered today as the oldest book on oriental herbal medicine, classifies 365 species of roots, grass, woods, furs, animals and stones into three categories of herbal medicine:
Lingzhi ranked as number one of the superior medicines, and was therefore the most exalted medicine in ancient times.
This tiny mushroom influenced our ancient history about 2100 years ago. During the reign of Emperor Han Wu Di, Chinese physicians referred to Lingzhi
as "Xiancao", or magic herb that were found budding all over the palace. Interpreted as a symbol of prosperity and peace for the nation and longevity for the
Emperor, the Emperor ordered for his people a yearly Lingzhi festival. He ruled China for 51 long years, prompting healing as his most important legacy.
After the
Han, Sung, Yuan and Ming dynasties, Lingzhi became a common practice in the palace. Military officials and peasants were all sent to hunt for this
medicinal herb in the deep mountains and forests. They offered it to win the Emperor's favor. It thus be came an “auspicious herb", a holy symbol for peace and prosperity.
After the Han Dynasty, Taoism renewed the legend of Lingzhi. Taoists, following the teachings of Lao Tza, believed that with regular consumption of this herb, one would
attain immortality. It was known then as a"celestial herb", the herb of immortality.
This herb of immortality has been immortalized in Chinese Opera Folklore, in "The Legend of White Snake". The story is about two magical snakes that turned themselves into beautiful young ladies named Lady White and Lady Green. Lady White fell in love with a man named Xian Xu and they were wed. The annual Dragon Boat Festival, the Chinese tradition to drink wine to drive away spirits weakened the power of Lady White. She turned back into the snake that frightened her husband to death. The power of wine wore off which resumed her human form. She was heartbroken because of the death of her husband. The only thing that could bring him back to life was the celestial herb, Ganoderma Lucidum found on the mountain surrounded by a body of white crane and guards. She was about to lose the battle and so she begged them to give her the herb. Impressed by her sincerity, they granted her the herb that returned Xian Xu's life.
The development of science advances, prevailing study of wild Lingzhi acknowledges a number of ingredients that can boost immunity and refurbish cell tissue. As wild Lingzhi's clinical pharmacology spread from Asia to the international scene, the United States, Britain, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia and other countries have conducted in-depth research about Lingzhi's phenomenal benefits.
Lingzhi the Miraculous Herb
Contemporary medicine has succeeded in treating major diseases. But it has not yet found an ideal system for prevention of dreaded diseases. The cliche that "Health is Wealth", "Prevention is better than cure" hold more truth in the modern context than ever before. This has led to all-embracing research about the "King of Herbs" or as it is known in China or the " Celestial herb" in Japan.
Theses studies have discovered Lingzhi works on the heart, liver, kidney, lungs, and pancreas. Lingzhi also works on dietary specific diseases because it helps the whole body and its metabolism to ensure that all of the organs function properly. But the most important thing is that it targets the ROOT of debilitating diseases.
Herbs for the Immune System:
Although vital to survival, the immune system can be compared to the
proverbial two-edged sword. On the one hand, immunodeficiency states render humans easy prey to infections and possibly tumors; on the other hand, a hyperactive immune system may cause fatal
disease, as in the case of an overwhelming allergic reaction to the sting of a bee. In yet another series of paradoxical reactions, the immune system may lose its normal capacity to distinguish
self from nonself, resulting in the emergence of immunity against one's own tissues and cells.
